The book of our life is a really large journal on which we write daily consciously or on unconsciously everything we do. It is up to every human to decide what he would like to write, and if it will be worth enough to be read by people again and again even when he won't be there anymore. In my point of view, the best way to let behind us a book worth to be read takes through different steps that are undeniable. In this fist writing of mine, I would like us to think a little bit about it.
First of all, at this time I am probably not at the right place to advise anyone about the way to figure out who he/she really is, but it is a pleasure to share my thoughts and knowledge about this kind of subject that I find really interesting.
Finding one's path is not easy at all, but it starts with a sense of conscientiousness of the fact that we are not born or sent to this world by the Creator just to live ordinarily and die. No! Each one of us has been brought here for a given reason, a sound purpose and it is our duty to find it, to follow it, to realize it and make the universe benefit from our passage here. When we recognize that we are here on a precise mission, then we've got to start looking for finding it. And this goes through the fact to question our Creator, to ask Him why we're here and also to observe ourselves, to analyse ourselves by questioning ourselves regularly about it. As I am a believer, finding me adding the name of God everywhere will be like counting stars during the night😉. I mean it is like semi-colon ";" in C programming. God is the one who created us and no one else could know us the way He does. No one could figure our life's purpose as clearly as He can. That is why the Bible says "Lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge the Lord in all your ways and he will make your paths straight.(Prov 3v5)". So the best way to figure out who we really are, is to turn toward our Creator and ask Him. Whatever your belief type may be, one thing is sure; the better your relationship is with God, the better you'll be. So if you try to convince yourself that you can't hear God (while I can tell you that it is still possible to hear Him either directly or through his word), I will tell you to look at yourself and to question the "Me" inside of you.
Questioning the one inside of you means to observe yourself, find out those things that you are really good at, those things that you recognize that you're gifted at; things that you like to do and that you know that doing them will not only make you great but also make you add something to your world. Those things are likely to help you find your real path. As I heard Jay Shetty say it "your passion is for you and your purpose is for others". So look at yourself, look at your talents, your skills, things that you feel you can be good at, things you are good at, things you feel you can be deeply involved in , being guided not uniquely by your ego, but also by the will to serve, to help, to be useful, to leave a legacy.
While looking at those things, you should also give yourself the chance to try it, to experience it to know if you are really made for it and vice versa. Getting attracted to a field is one thing but being adapted to it takes time and work. So you have to try things (the most when you are young) till you find the one that is yours. As told by Steve Jobs, "don't wait to become old before starting things, try doing them since when you are young, you have nothing to loose", so why not try? why not try now? The fear of failing makes us miss a lot of opportunities and we should not keep living in the safe mode continuously like that. We should try sometimes to jump from the mountain so as to experience the beauty of flying ("not to be tried physically but psychologically").
While trying these different things, you have to keep eliminating progressively the local garbage. By local garbage, I mean the things that you find out that they are not your focus or that they can obviously keep you from finding the right path and following it. By doing this progressive elimination, you find yourself getting more and more closer to who you want/need to be.
An incremental repetition of this habits will surely help you find your "why". And then when you localize your "why", know that you are at a halfway of being the right "you". Because you will have only and only one thing last after finding it out: it's called focus!
Once you have found your goal, you just have to dive in, to go deeper and deeper, to focus manomaniacally on it and become an expert at it. "Be so good that nobody ignores you". Give your all to it, become The One at it. Then use the gained knowledge to be useful to your world, use it to tutor others, to open their sight too, to impact them. Because, a real champion is not just the one who only wins for himself, but the one who wins for all (Chris Oyakhilome PhD). As told by Denzel Washington "each one teach one".
I deeply believe that by following these few steps explained by the software engineering nerd Gilbright you will look back after decades and be proud of a life well lived.
This is my first post on this blog. I hope it will be useful. Although this one is based on general life subjects, I would like to mention that most of the rest will be about technical subjects, problems solving , brain-teaser, programming concepts, experience sharing, biblical thoughts and so on.
